Hampstead Garden Suburb House

This project was to advocate and execute a New Build House within the Hampstead Garden Trust Area. A new build house within this Historic ‘Trust’ Controlled Area was, and is, a rare and welcome privilege. An achievement for any architectural practice.

The family house includes a basement with an internal swimming pool, shower/changing areas, a bar and lounging deck, together with an adjacent steam room and gym.  All floors are arranged around a sculptural central, split level staircase.  The living spaces give the house a dynamic feel offering spacious, and light filled accommodation with a variety of internal and external views. There are six bedrooms including a master bedroom suite with dressing room and luxurious bathroom. The top floor maximises headroom in the roof space and offers distant views from the dormer windows.

An existing house on the site was demolished and replaced with a high quality modern house suitable for 21st century living and meeting environmental criteria and current building standards. The exterior appearance was tightly controlled by the ‘Trust’ and belies the modern architecture within.

Over the years we have undertaken many projects within the Hampstead Garden Trust Area.  We work with and mediate your requirements with the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust Authority as well as with English Heritage and with the London Borough of Barnet, both their Planning and their Building Control departments.

We are familiar with and have experience of their exacting requirements.  We know how to work cooperatively with these bodies to achieve the best possible outcome for your objectives.

We understand this demanding process fully.
